Mel Robbins is an American author. Her new book published in 2024, Let Them Theory, has a powerful message. The following are just a few great takeaways from her book.

Happiness is learning how to let any situation that you are in just be what it is, without thinking or wishing that it should be what you want it to be. And then just making the best of it.

Let Them Theory

  • Stop spending your time and energy on things you can’t control – like other people’s moods, opinions, or actions – and focus on the one thing you can control – YOU: think, say, do.
  • You are not responsible for other people’s happiness. Let them be unhappy.
  • You are not responsible for making people understand your choices. Let them be confused.
  • You are not responsible for managing someone else’s emotions. Let them feel how they feel.
  • You are not responsible for proving your worth to people who don’t see it. Let them underestimate you.
  • You are not responsible for meeting everyone’s expectations. Let them be disappointed.
  • You are not responsible for rescuing people from their problems. Let them learn from life.
  • You are not responsible for managing everyone and everything around you. Let them be.

What you are not changing, you are choosing. People want to complain about lots of things in their life. Let them.

Perspective on Strength

  • Weak people focus on their insecurities.
  • Arrogant people focus on others' weaknesses.
  • Strong people focus on their strengths.

Focusing on others makes you weaker.
Focusing on yourself makes you stronger.
Take back your power and focus on yourself.
